USA: Walmart to launch private label for Italian products
US based retail giant Walmart has announced a one-year agreement with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) to launch a new range of imported products from Italy under a new private label.
According to European Supermarket Magazine (ESM), the new agreement will see the retailer will buy 16% more food and wine products from Italy per year, which means that exports from Italy to the USA will increase.
Michele Scannaini, president of ITA, said that the partnership would be especially helpful for small to medium Italian companies, which otherwise would have a more difficult time to get their products exported to the US market.
Wal-Mart plans to make field trips to Italy, organised by ITA, in order to find the new products for their line.
