Tyson Foods subsidiary Tyson Fresh Meats is expanding its case-ready beef and pork plant in Council Bluffs, IA, USA with a $27 million investment, according to a report in Food Business News.

The move will see 55,000 sq ft of extra space added at the site for new production lines and warehousing and is set to increase capacity for the manufacture of fresh ground beef, beef and pork cuts and meal kits.

Commenting on the move, Steve Friedrichsen, complex manager of the Council Bluffs plant for Tyson Foods, said:"This project is great news for our plant, our community and our customers. We are committed to the Council Bluffs community and look forward to adding more jobs with this expansion, while also meeting the growing demand for case-ready products".

The expansion follows a recent announcements by Tyson Foods of an investment in its production capacity in Arkensas and North Carolina.
