USA: SC Johnson to close site as part of The Caldrea Company integration
SC Johnson has announced that it is to shut its The Caldrea Company facility in Minneapolis as it looks to integrate the company into its North American business.
Citing a need to improve efficiences, the US-based manufacturer of household goods announced that Caldrea, which owns the brands Caldrea and Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day, would be integrated within the SC Johnson Home Cleaning Business in Racine, Wisconsin. 40 jobs are expected to be at risk as a result of the restructure.
“These decisions are never easy, but integration with the SC Johnson Home Cleaning business is vital to the brands' growth,” said Maggie Carey, General Manager, The Caldrea Company. “Since the acquisition in 2008, we have invested continually in both the Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day and Caldrea brands – doubling them in size in five years. As we continue to further grow these brands, connecting them to our North America business allows us to maximize the company’s global resources."
Select research and development, sales and marketing positions will be relocated from Minneapolis to Racine, the company said. Meanwhile other roles – including product supply, human resources, and business processes and technology – will be consolidated into existing functions in Racine.
Brand portfolio and availability will be unaffected by the change, SC Johnson concluded.
