USA: Diaz Foods acquires Frutel brand

Atlanta, USA based food distributor Diaz Foods has announced its acquisition of the Frutel brand from Origin Foods.

Frutel is a yoghurt drink blended with whey protein and is available in flavours such as strawberry, banana, peach and mango. It claims to offer a natural energy boost and markets itself as a healthy treat, containing 2.5g of fat and 23g of sugar.

Commenting on the deal, Diaz Foods CFO Eric Newberg said: "The Frutel brand represents an opportunity for Diaz Foods to further expand its portfolio of products for our customers. This 100% yogurt drink is a high quality product with significant opportunity to expand beyond its North Carolina foot print".

Founded in 1980, Diaz Foods operates across the United States in 25 states and offers a variety of dry, refrigerated and frozen products.
