USA: Conagra Brands acquires Thanasi Foods

North American packaged foods company Conagra Brandas has agreed to buy Thanasi Foods, a US snacks producer.

Protein-based snacking company Thanasi Foods is the manufacturer of snack brands including like Duke’s for meat snacks and Bigs for seed snacks.

The Duke’s brand includes Duke’s Smoked Shorty and Duke’s Steak Strips, both "made in small batches with quality ingredients and authentic hardwood smoke pairings", according to a company statement.

"This is another exciting step in our ongoing efforts to reshape our portfolio to be more premium and modern", commented Sean Connolly, president and chief executive officer of Conagra Brands.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to complete by summer 2017.
