USA: Aldi launches “free from” meat range

Discount grocery retailer Aldi has launched a new line of meat products offering “simple meats at affordable prices they’re known for".

The new Aldi Never Any! line of meat products is specifically claimed to be free from antibiotics, added hormones and steroids and animal by-products. It includes Kirkwood Chicken Breast ($3.99 per lb), Lunch Mate Ham or Turkey ($3.29, 7oz), Appleton Farms Hickory Bacon ($4.49, 12oz), Kirkwood Whole Chicken ($1.49 per lb), Kirkwood Chicken Tenderloins ($4.49 per lb) and Kirkwood Italian or Spinach Feta Chicken Sausage ($2.99, 12oz). Kirkwood Breakfast Chicken Sausage ($2.99; 8 oz) and Kirkwood Chipotle or Tomato Basil Chicken Sausage ($2.99; 12 oz) will also be available at selected test markets.

Commenting on the launch, Aldi USA CEO Jason Hart said: "We believe every shopper should have access to food they feel good about serving their family.
