USA: Snyder’s-Lance completes the acquisition of Metcalfe’s Skinny
US-based snack manufacturer Snyder’s Lance has announced that the company’s Kettle Foods subsidiary has completed the acquisition of Metcalfe’s Skinny, a British producer of popcorn and rice cake products.
Kettle Foods, which initially acquired a 26% stake in Metcafe's Skinny last January prior to the acquisition of parent firm Diamond Foods by Snyder's Lance, will now own the totality of the business.
Commenting on the acquisition, Snyder's-Lance president and Chief Executive Officer Carl E Lee Jr commented: "This addition to our branded portfolio provides us with another better-for-you option in a growth snacking category in the European markets, and we look forward to supporting the continued success of the Metcalfe's skinny brands"".
Julian Metcalfe and Robert Jakobi, previous co–owners of Metcalfe, commented: "We are delighted about the opportunity for the Metcalfe's skinny brand to expand with the support and expertise of the Kettle Foods and Snyder's-Lance organization [..] This is a unique opportunity […] to truly give Metcalfe's skinny the international opportunity it deserves".
