US: Guenther & Son Inc to acquire three Canadian bakeries
Guenther and Son has announced that it is set to acquire three Canada bakeries.
Guenther and Son Inc , the Texas-based manufacturer of flour and other baking goods, is due to acquire a set of bakeries currently owned by Rene Fluri – Gold West Baking Company, Gizella Pastry and Les Boulangeries Rene. Details of the transaction are yet to be disclosed.
Gold West Baking Company produces buns, rolls and English muffins for quick-serve and retail grocery channels. Gizella Pastry was established in 1960 and is a producer of desserts, primarily cakes and cheesecakes, sold across Canada, throughout the western United States and overseas in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, and the United Kingdom for retail, airline, catering and club store business segments. Les Boulangeries Rene was acquired by Rene Fluri in 2003 – established in 1986 to supply McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada, it also provides products for consumers in the US from Colorado to Illinois.
With this latest acquisition, Guenther and Sons, which produces brands including Pioneer Brand, White Wings, Peter Pan and Morrison’s, will bring its total production facilities to 15. Of these, nine are in the US, with three in Canada and three in Europe.
