USA: Campbell Soup launches Garden Fresh Gourmet fresh soups

Cambell Soup, the US consumer goods firm, is launching a new range of soups under its recently acquired Garden Fresh Gourmet brand.

The refrigerated soups come in the varieties Chicken Noodle with Kale, Chicken Tortilla with Roasted Chillies, Broccoli Cheddar with Parmesan and Tomato with Parmesan.

The launch of the new soup line marks an extension for the Garden Fresh Gourmet brand into a new category, having previously focused on manufacturing dips, salsa, hummus and crisps.

Commenting on the launch, Garden Fresh Gourmet vice president Diego Norris said: “We saw an opportunity to develop a new line of refrigerated soups that bring some of the slow batch production into the category to offer more variety to consumers. We felt that was something that was missing and that consumers were really looking for. So we saw an opportunity to fill that void. Specifically, what we heard from consumers is that they wanted products that were made with recognizable ingredients that had familiar flavours they knew and love but had more of a modern or culinary twist and that were produced in small batches”.
