UK: Tesco to launch Google Glass application
Tesco wil be the first British retailer to embrace Google Glass technology as part of the shopping experience, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.
Using the new app, which is to be called Tesco Grocery, consumers will be able to add products to their basket through a link with their Tesco.com grocery account. They will be able to carry out voice searches, scan product barcodes as well as comparing nutrition information and prices, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Pablo Coberly, innovation engineer at Tesco Labs, said: “At Tesco we want to ensure we have the means in place to allow customers to shop whenever, however they want which is why we’re testing the possibilities of customers topping up their online basket with Glass. We’ve intentionally kept functionality very basic given the early stages of customer use of Glass. We’re keen to see how customers react to shopping with Glassware and welcome feedback or suggestions from customers using Glass”.
