UK: Portlebay Popcorn expands range with three sweet flavours
Portlebay Popcorn has expanded its product line-up with three new sweet flavours, the Western Morning News reports. The varieties Cinnamon Swirl, Very Berry and and Lemon Sherbert join an existing range of five savoury flavours: Kracklecorn, Orchard Wood Smoked Cheddar, Wasabi & Sweet Ginger, Crispy Bacon & Maple Syrup, and Chilli & Lime.
Launched in 2012, Portlebay Popcorn is headquartered in Plympton, Devon and has gained listings in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Booth’s and Budgens, as well as a number of independent retailers. Brand owner Jonty White said that one of the reasons for the latest launch was a gap the company identified in the sweet snack market.
"We've seen significant growth and increased volume sales in the sweet snack category over the last few years”, he said. "There are plenty of savoury or sweet snack options out there at the moment, but popcorn-wise we wanted to create something that was different from traditional toffee-covered popcorn or squidgy popcorn with crisp flavours. With our new sweet popcorn range, we wanted to create unique, authentic and natural flavours."
The new range will be available in 25g impulse bags with an RRP of £0.85 ($1.43) and larger 75g bags with an RRP of £1.89 ($3.18).
