UK: Mars invests in King’s Lynn plant
Mars, the global food and pet care firm, has announced plans to make a £23 million ($30 million) investment at its manufacturing site in King’s Lynn, UK.
Mars said that the new money came on the back of an investment of £6 million ($8 million) in 2015 which was used for the purpose of office renovations. The facility aims to put the new investment towards increasing production of goods under the Uncle Ben’s brand. The changes will be implemented in 2017 and are expected to create 28 new jobs.
Mars Food regional president for western Europe and Russia Michael Ryan said: “The latest investment at our King’s Lynn site shows our continued commitment to investing and growing the site which manufactures some of the UK’s favourite family brands, including Uncle Ben’s and Dolmio”.
King’s Lynn plant manager Michael Riha added: “We have been manufacturing from this site for over 50 years and continue our commitment to investing and growing the site which manufactures some of the UK’s favourite family brands – Uncle Ben’s® and Dolmio®”.
According to a report in the Eastern Daily Press, the investment includes a new production line to meet growing demand for Uncle Ben’s ready-to-heat rice.
