UK: Love Cocoa launches chocolate by post

Love Cocoa, a startup chocolate firm based in Birmingham, UK is launching a line of handmade chocolates designed to be delivered by post, according to an article in the Birmingham Mail.

Founder James Cadbury, a descendent of chocolate-maker George Cadbury, is quoted as having hit on the idea when looking for a chocolate gift and being unable to find a suitable delivery service. He commented: "I could not find a service which was next day and that fitted through the letterbox. Most retailers require items to be signed for…that ruins the surprise. I looked everywhere but in the end I popped a handmade card and some chocolate in the post. 'What if I could do this from the comfort of my own home?' I thought and I knew I'd spotted a gap in the market for premium letterbox-friendly chocolate gifts”.

The Love Cocoa range is described as being made according to British traditions, with varieties including honeycomb and honey, English mint, Earl Grey and Maldon sea salt available. All the bars are said to be handcrafted in the UK using organic, fair trade cocoa, sourced from the Dominican Republic and Ecuador.

The new range will be available in boxes of three or six bars, costing £13.95 ($18.01) and £21.95 ($28.34) respectively, including free standard delivery by post.
