UK: Icelandic Group to sell Seachill unit

Fish and seafood firm Icelandic Group is to sell its UK operations Seachill, according to a report in the Grimsby Telegraph.

Founded in 1998, Seachill has grown to become one of the largest fish processors in the UK, employing 750 staff in two facilities in the Lincolnshire town of Grimsby. The firm, which posted £266.3 million ($341.3 million) of turnover in 2016, markets a range of pre-packed sea food under the Saucy Fish Co banner, including fishcakes and fish and sauce, as well as a ‘foil bake bag’ line.

Commenting on the move, Icelandic Seachill CEO Simon Smith said: "The business is in great shape having successfully transitioned both customer and supply base, with a consistent multi year on year profit growth, this is a great performance and means that we enter this process in a strong way and for the right reasons. This sale announcement is no surprise and is a very positive next step for Seachill, its employees and partner customers who place a high value on the business management and strategy".
