UK: Bestway to launch own label Best-in meat products

Bestway, the UK’s largest independent wholesale retailer, has announced the expansion of its own label Best-in range to includemeat and poultry products for independent stores.

The new offer will include beef, pork, lamb and chicken products and will be sold in fixed-weight packs in Bestway and Batleys stores from mid-February.

Commenting on the move, Steve Carter, Bestway chilled category controller, said. “In the past, wholesalers have left fresh meat and poultry to the larger supermarkets as that is where the shopper was purchasing. However, with changing shopper dynamics placing a greater emphasis on convenience, we need to ensure that we are offering what’s on trend so customers can maximise the opportunity”.

“The new Best-in range does exactly that by offering a core range of quality sourced products in fixed formats which offer retailers the chance to trial fresh meat but also the breadth of range for those who want to offer a more comprehensive range”, he added.
