UK: Arctic Quad packaging from Ulma to be extended to pork products
Following the success of its Arctic Quad packaging for fresh chicken, Ulma Packaging has entered into an agreement with Cranswick Convenience Foods to launch its pork products in the same pack.
The Artic Quad flow pack wrapper is a new packaging format that is described as offering a better presentation, protection and hygiene level for meat and poultry products, avoiding contamination. It is suitable for placing straight into the oven and also allows products to be marketed with combinations of sauces and spices.
The packaging system includes a modified atmosphere process to increase the product's shelf life – the equipment seals the film from four corners to create a box-like effect. This allows the packer to print on both sides to improve displaying of products on shelf.
Earlier this year Ulma introduced quad packs for whole chicken sold in Asda.
