UAE: Unilever opens plant in Dubai
FMCG multinational Unilever has opened a manufacturing plant at Dubai Industrial Park through an investment of 1 billion DHS ($272 million).
According to a report in Sustainable Brands, goods produced at the new plant will have the “Made in UAE” label and 80% of production will be exported to the Europe and MENA regions.
The 100,000 sq m plant is described as the largest of its kind in the region and is expected to produce 100,000 tons of beauty and personal care products per year, equivalent to approximately 500 million units.
The facility is reported to feature state-of-the-art technology for faster and highly responsive production lines, as well as following the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan which aims to reduce environmental footprint whilst improving social impact.
Products from Unilever brands such as Dove, Fair & Lovely, Lifebuoy, Vaseline, Clear, Tresemme and Sunskilk will be manufactured at the new factory. Exports will cover countries across North Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
