UAE: Nestle to open $120 million food processing plant

Nestle is said to be investing $120 million in a food processing plant in Dubai, UAE to manufacture products under the Nescafe and Maggi brands.

Described as a 175,000 sq m manufacturing facility, the plant is set to create 400 jobs.

According to Global AgInvesting, a groundbreaking ceremony has already taken place with production due to start at the end of 2015.

Rainer Mueller, communications director for Nestle Middle East commented on the opening by saying: “Dubai is a region of rare opportunities and home to developed and emerging economies with affluent populations as well as many who have very little; a majority young population mixing with growing numbers of elderly; and completely different cultural demographics”.

The new facility will source local ingredients and raw materials to create products that cater to local tastes, such as the first instant Arabic coffee, Nescafe Arabiana, according to reports.
