Turkey: Nestle expands plant with Saudi growth in mind

To cater for the growing Saudi Arabian market, Nestle has expanded a plant in Turkey with the addition of lines to produce Maggi bouillon products.

The company has invested $10.9m in their cereal plant located in Karacabey, in western Turkey, creating around 100 new jobs. The expansion of the plant, which first opened in 1989, will now allow Nestle to produce its Maggi bouillon brand for the Saudi Arabian market.

According to Nestle executive VP Nandu Nandkishore, “Turkey is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic markets in Asia, Oceania and Africa. This investment makes the site one of Nestle’s largest production facilities in the region."

According to sources, the new lines will use the latest technology to produce 1,200 packages a minute, generating a total of 7,300 tons of bouillon each year from 2014.
