Turkey: Anatolia acquires Whitworths fruit brand
Anatolia, a Turkish wholesale group, is set to acquire UK dried fruit brand Whitworths for an undisclosed sum, according to a report in FoodBev.
Whitworths markets preserved fruit products – including sultanas, raisins, mango and prunes – for both baking and snacking. It also offers cereal-based snack products such as flaxseed crisps and coconut raw bars.
The merger is said to provide a platform for long-term growth, combining Whitworths’ capabilites as a leading UK dried fruit, nut and seed supplier with Anatolia’ strength in sourcing and packing produce grown in Turkey.
Whitworths has an annual turnover of around £150 million and operates from a plant in Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire.
Anatolia is active in international dried fruit markets, serving more than 15 countries, including Australia, Japan and New Zealand as well as markets in mainland Europe.
