Switzerland: Delica opens new factory

The Swiss coffee company Delica, which is particularly known for its Nespresso compatible capsules marketed under the Cafe Royale brand, is set to open a new factory in the Swiss region of Tessin, according to a report in the Tages Anzeiger.

The new factory is being established under the Total Capsule Solutions name and will manufacture, among other products, the new Migros private label M-Budget capsules and capsules under the Nero brand for the supermarket chain Denner.

According to a spokesperson for the company, the new plant will focus on the production of capsules for private label brands in Europe, a market described as having high growth potential.

In comparison to the company’s existing plant in Birsfelden, the manufacturing plant in Tellin is described as being more advanced, allowing for greater flexibility in terms of capsule shapes and materials. This technology is said to enablethe production of capsules compatible with other coffee systems, such as the Nescafe Dolce Gusto range.

Part of the Migros group, Delica is the leading coffee capsule firm in Switzerland with total market share of more than 50%.
