Sweden: Orkla Foods Sverige acquires Anamma Foods AB
Orkla Foods has announced that it has acquired the Swedish producer of frozen vegan meals, Anamma Foods AB.
Under the motto “Always 100% vegan”, Anamma produces a range of frozen dishes that are aimed to meet the needs of those consumers who are looking for products containing no meat, eggs or dairy products. Items in the product range include meat-alternative escalopes, mince, burgers, patties and falafel.
“Vegetarian and vegan food is an exciting, rapidly growing category, and this is an investment entirely in line with Orkla Foods Sverige’s strategic focus on health”, said Patrik Andersson, CEO of Orkla Foods Sverige. “Moreover, Anamma is a brand that we believe will be an excellent complement to our present product portfolio”.
According to the terms of the deal, Anamma Foods will operate as a subsidiary of Orkla and production will continue at Anamma Food’s factories at Simrishamn and Vadensjo.
The change of ownership will formally occur on the 1st of June.
