Sweden: BoFood introduces dairy-free ice cream with probiotics
Swedish firm BoFood has introduced a dairy-free vegan ice cream that uses the LP299V probiotic strain from Probi, according to a report in FoodBev.
Prior to the launch, Probi had entered into a license and supply agreement with Swedish BoFood, which offers plant-based products with added health values such as lactose-free ice cream, organic rape oil, frying oil, and organic liquid margarine and cheese.
"There has been strong growth in the North American and Asian probiotic markets the past few years. We now see a growing interest in Europe too, and our new distribution agreements clearly reflect this positive trend", said Niklas Bjarum, vice-president of marketing and sales for Probi.
The new ice cream falls under BoFood’s Lovice range which includes soy-based kosher ice cream containing no lactose, milk, eggs, nuts and gluten.
