South Korea: Daesang launches microwaveable meat and poultry products
Daesang, a major Korean food company, has introduced new microwaveable frozen meat and poultry products in order to tap into demand for convenience foods.
Named Lenjiro Twigija (translating as “fry in the microwave”) and launched under the Chungjungwon Cook’in brand, the new products are claimed to feature a patented technology. According to the company, this makes them easy to cook and also allows them to maintain their crispness, as though they had been fried.
In order to prepare, the product in its tray can be placed straight in the microwave without any need to defrost. Ready in two minutes, the product is claimed to be at its crispest when left for about two to three minutes before serving.
The new products are now on sale in three different options: Crispy Mini Deungshim Donkatsu (Crispy Mini Breaded Tenderloin), Crispy Sunsal Chicken (Crispy Boneless Chicken), and Crispy Chicken Nugget, priced at 4500 KRW ($4.05), 4200 KRW ($3.78), and 4800 KRW ($4.32) respectively.
