South Africa: Spirit of Rooibos launches namesake drink

South African spirits firm Spirit of Rooibos is launching a new eponymous rooibos (redbush tea) spirit  promoted as a “premium triple distilled neutral spirit, craft infused with natural organic rooibos”.

According to Fastmoving, the drink is created from sugar cane by a professional distillery, before being supplied to a bottling plant where the rooibos is added. The aperitif, which is said to have 28% abv, features “hand picked and carefully selected indigenous botanical” that is  “infused with a premium triple distilled neutral spirit, to extract the wonderful rich full bodied flavour from the Rooibos plant”. It is said to have a rich flavour with hints of spice and wooded undertones.

Spirit of Rooibos Spirit Aperitif is being made available at selected speciality stores with a price of around 339 ZAR ($24.68).
