South Africa: Distell launches country’s first tequila-flavoured cider

Distell, the leading producer and marketer of spirits, wines and ciders in South Africa, has extended its flagship brand Savanna for the launch of a new tequila flavoured cider under the brand name Savanna Loco.

Supported by the strapline: “Savanna Loco. Add a leeedle crazy!”, the 6% abv drink is said to feature the crisp taste of Savanna Dry with fresh tequila flavour. The “leeedle” twist of tequila flavour is said to add a crispy and citrusy freshness to the apple cider.

Commenting on the launch, Savanna Global Brand Manager Leanne Jones said: “Only Savanna could launch something like this, was the general consensus during preliminary research. Consumers described the taste combination as unexpected, extremely fresh and well-balanced”.

The new product is offered in a vibrant turquoise packaging and is available in a 6-count shrink wrap pack.
