Russia: Mars to open M&M’s production line

Mars has invested 3 billion rubles ($52 million) to build a new production plant in Stupino, near Moscow, which will produce M&M’s confectionery.

The new plant will reportedly increase the factory’s capacity by 18%. “The production lines and cutting-edge technologies provide an opportunity to manufacture the products in various formats without shutdowns and production reloads”, the company noted in a statement.

“By expanding our capacities, we focus on best ecological decisions both in technologies and in construction”, said Alla Skovorodkina, Site & Plant Director. “It allows Mars to be a leader in sustainability and leads to reduction of our impact on environment. This is also a bright example how we out our Principles into Action”.

“Our strategy in Russia is to focus on investments in local manufacturing and developing and retaining local talents”, added Jean-Christophe Flatin, Mars Global Chocolate President. “The launch of new plant will strengthen our market position”.
