Portugal: El Corte Ingles invests in one hour delivery service
Spanish supermarket chain El Corte Ingles has introduced a new service that delivers online orders within the space of just one hour, according to a report in HiperSuper.
According to the trade journal, the new service, called Click & Now, was introduced on 7th November and enables customers to choose from a selection of 20,000 items. Click & Now is being launched for one million consumers in Lisbon, Porto and Gaia, although the retailer reportedly has ambitions to extend the scheme to a further half milllion customers by 2017.
The news service has necessitated improvements to the firm’s online store, mobile app, in-store product collection system, packaging and delivery logistics, HiperSuper reports.
In Spain, El Corte Ingles already operates a Cash & Express service that was recently expanded to 37 towns and cities. The service offers delivery in less than two hours at a time slot of the customer’s choosing.
In Portugal, Click & Now will have a fixed price of €6.90 ($7.61).
