Portugal: Agua De Luso unveils bottled coconut water

Agua De Luso, one of the leading Portuguese bottled water brands, has diversified into the coconut water market.

With the launch, Agua De Luso enters a booming market, with some media reports suggesting coconut water sales could top $1 billion globally in the next few years.

Announced by the company this month, the new Luso De Fruta Coconut Water is described as being made with water from the Luso region and natural fruit juice, and is claimed to have no artificial colors or preservatives and to contain only natural fruit sugars.  Manufacturer Sociedade Agua De Luso advertises the product as “healthy, tasty and refreshing”, and promises that it will bring a “tropical wave of freshness” to everyone who drinks it.

Two Portuguese celebrities – the model Goncalo Teixeira and the actress Victoria Guerra – have been chosen as the ambassadors of the new product, with the launch supported by advertising campaigns on TV, outdoors and through digital media.

The product is available in 33cl and 1 litre bottles, priced at €0.64 ($0.89) and €1.39 ($1.93) respectively.
