Poland: Merlin.pl and Alma launch food collection points

Merlin.pl, one of the most established online retailers in Poland has cooperated with Alma Market, a delicatessen chain, and technology partner Coolomat, to launch a network of food collection points under the project name Merlinfood by Alma.

The companies said they planned to launch up to 200 such collection points a year across the country.  Customers will be able to choose between the options of home delivery or collection in person at one of the collection points, the first of which has already been installed in the city of Poznan.

Commenting on the scheme, Lukasz Rybczonek, Business Development Director at Merlin.pl, said: "We are ready to enter into the food industry. We have 16 years of experience in Internet commerce, and the synergies offered by a partnership with Alma will allow us to develop an excellent business together".

Jacek Sobczyk, Chief Operating Officer at Alma Market, added that the venture would allow the firms to captalize on the boom in online grocery shopping market in Poland.
