Poland: Lekkerland shuts down operations
Lekkerland, a provider of products to the convenience trade, has officially ended its operations in Poland and has reported to the Labour Office its intention to make group redundancies. The company employs more than 400 staff in the country.
Lekkerland has been present on the Polish market for over 20 years, since when it has become one of the largest distributors of impulse products in the country. With its 13 branches and four distribution centres, its assortment included more than 4,500 items.
According to Dla Handlu, one of the main factors behind its recent financial troubles was a decline in sales of tobacco products.
In April 2013 the Lekkerland Group announced the separation of its structures in Eastern Europe, including Poland, following a strategic decision to refocus on its core business.
