New Zealand: Goodman Fielder confirms 120 jobs to go

More than 120 jobs are set to go at a meat factory in Hamilton, New Zealand after Goodman Fielder confirmed the closure of the plant.

According to newspaper the New Zealand Herald, workers at the Huttons / Kiwi Bacon factory were called into a meeting with Goodman Fielder NZ managing director, Peter Reidie.

It is said that the news comes weeks after the Australasian food company warned staff at the factory that 125 jobs could be cut from the facility.

FIRST Union general secretary Robert Reid said, "While workers were disappointed to hear the news that the site would close and they would be made redundant, there was also relief that after a month of waiting the final decision had been made.''
