Netherlands: Kraft Heinz to open distribution centre in Elst

The US food giant Kraft Heinz is expanding its footprint in western Europe with a new distribution centre set to be built at the Park15 industrial location in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region of the eastern Netherlands.

The construction of the 61,700 sq m facility is set to start shortly. The Goodman Group, builder and developer of industrial locations, will retain title over the site, and Nabuurs, provider of global logistics solutions to companies located in the Netherlands, will enter into a rental contract with them once construction is completed in the beginning of 2017. The majority of the building is reserved for Kraft Heinz.

The centre is designed provide more efficient service to clients in Benelux, Germany, Austria and Scandinavia, and is expected to create hundreds of new jobs for the region.

In the Netherlands, Heinz Kraft currently has production facilities in Elst and Utrecht, the former described as Europe’s largest manufacturing site for ketchup products.
