Mexico: Ilis dairy brand launched by Sonora milk producers

Dairy producers in the state of Sonora, Mexico have joined forces to launch a line of products under the brand name Ilis via an investment of M$132 million ($6.1 million).

According to El Financiero, the investment is part of an effort to support milk producers in the state, backed by the UGRS (Regional Livestock Union of Sonora).

Commenting on the move, UGRS president Héctor Platt Martínez said: "This is a strategy we are taking forward to add value to a very good quality product that is already being produced in Sonora".

Ilis brand products will reportedly be manufactured in a facility at Hermosillo Industrial Park. The plant will produce light milk and cheese products including Chihuahua style cheese (a soft white cheese from the state of the same name), panela cheese, asadero cheese and fresh cheese.

The new Ilis range will be distributed in supermarkets and other stores in the northwest region of Mexico.
