Mexico: Grupo Lala to invest in a dairy facility in Guatemala
Mexican dairy company Grupo Lala, will invest $30 million in the construction of a new facility with capacity for five thousand tons of products per month in Guatemala.
Located in Escuintla, the new diary facility will have 12,000-square-metre and will produce pasteurized milk, ultrapasteurized milk (UHT) and ice cream, supporting 3,500 direct and indirect jobs by 2018 when the plant become completely functional.
According to company statement, sales in Guatemala has considerable rose in the last few years, therefore the construction is this facility is required.
“The new factory is part of the company’s strategy to consolidate the group’s presence in the Central American region. The facilities will be located in the Michatoya Industrial Park, and will start operations during the first quarter of 2018,” Grupo Lala said in a statement.
The new facility will also have a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant.
