Malaysia: Kellogg set to establish new plant

Kellogg has announced plans to build a new snack factory in Malaysia.

In an effort to up its investment in emerging markets, US food chain Kellogg is set to build a new snack factory in Malaysia. According to Kellogg, the new facility, located near the capital Kuala Lumpur, will increase capacity for the manufacture of Pringles in Asia Pacific. 300 jobs will be created in the process, it is reported.

This development is part of Kellogg’s “Project K” programme through which the company is seeking to revamp its production network to lower costs as well as to invest in emerging economies. As part of the programme, factories in Australia and Canada are set to close while a facility in Thailand has already been earmarked for expansion.

CEO and President John Bryant stated: “We have a compelling business need to better align our assets with marketplace trends and customer requirements. To that end, we are taking action to ensure our manufacturing network is operating the right number of plants and production lines – in the right locations – to better meet current and future production needs and the evolving needs of our customers.”
