Look Ahead: Ross Carter, London Wine Fair 2015
Gama spoke to Ross Carter, Event Director at London Wine Fair, ahead of the show’s latest outing at the Kensington Olympia.
What are your expectations for the 35th edition of London Wine Fair?
This year we are expecting our most diverse show to date, with more UK-based importers than ever before. In total we will see 650 individual exhibitors representing around 40 wine-producing countries for 2015 and expect to see something over 11,000 visitors – mainly from the UK but also from key markets in Europe (particularly Northern Europe) and across the rest of the world.
What key trends do you expect to shape alcoholic drinks innovation in 2015?
There are a few key trends coming out of the wine industry, and these will be reflected by the raft of new launches we will see in at the Fair in May: sparkling wine continues to grow, largely boosted by the boom in Prosecco; wines with organic credentials are becoming increasingly important; lower alcohol wines are showing signs of growth; and of course packaging is becoming more innovative.
