Look Ahead: Dietmar Eiden, Anuga 2015

Gama spoke to Dietmar Eiden, Vice President of Trade Fair Management at Koelnmesse, ahead of the 2015 edition of Anuga.

What are your expectations for this year's Anuga?

Anuga 2015 is fully booked, which means approximately 6,800 exhibitors from around 100 countries will be participating. With an extraordinary 86% of exhibitors from overseas, and with its incomparable range of companies and products on show, Anuga will once again be the world's largest and most important trading and information platform for the international food business.

What key trends do you expect to shape the food and beverage sector in 2015?

The global trend is moving away from quantity towards competition in terms of quality. Increased urbanisation, higher employment levels and incomes and improved supply infrastructure are transforming the living conditions and desires of consumers. These factors are leading to a rise in the demand for more individual and innovative foods. Simultaneously, climate change and distribution issues are also influencing food supply. As a result, consumer awareness is also growing, particularly in high-income and developed markets. Consumers are paying increasing attention to the amount they eat and where their food comes from.
