Insight by Gama Compass™
MANCHESTER – 16th October 2015: Lime and peach are the most popular flavours in new alcoholic drinks launches, according to the latest study of global NPD by Gama.
Based on analysis of products reported on Gama Compass™ over the past 18 months, lime was the leading flavour across new alcoholic launches globally, featuring on just over 5% of products in the study sample.
Second in the flavour standings, meanwhile, was peach, found in just over 4% of launches reported across the alcoholic drinks industry as a whole. From a category perspective, peach found greatest favour among spirits launches, with almost 7% of new products reported in the spirits category having peach either as a sole flavour or a component in a flavour blend. Meanwhile a predilection for peach also came across in FABs, where the flavour appeared on just over 6% of category launches.
At the regional level, meanwhile, peach was the leading choice in North America, used on more than 11% of new products but – by contrast – was only fourth most popular in Europe, where the flavour featured on fewer than 3% of launches.
