Japan: UHA Mikakuto launches ‘fat-absorbing’ lozenges

Japanese confectionery firm UHA Mikakuto has announced the introduction of a new throat lozenge that is said to combine a variety of functional benefits.

Named UHA Mikakuto Off Zeitakuna Off Nodoame, the new throat lozenges are said to prevent the absorption of fat, to help regulate the absorption of sugar, and to relieve digestive complaints.

The sweet candy, described as a juicy and healthy medicated throat candy that is made with fruit juice, is claimed to be formulated with indigestible dextrin and to contain a 50% reduction in saccharides. Consumers are recommended to take six of the lozenges a day as a dessert at meal times.

UHA Mikakuto Off Zeitakuna Off Nodoame come in 71g packs and are said to be targeted at women over 30 who are concerned about their sugar intake.
