Japan: Myojo Foods launches “grilled eel sauce” flavour yakisoba

Myojo Foods, a subsidiary of Nissin, has recently announced that it is launching a new flavour for its Ippei-chan Fried Egg Noodle range in a bid to appeal to consumers over the summer months.

The new flavour is designed to replicate the sauce used for a grilled eel dish that is popular in summertime in Japan.

According to sources, the new product features flavours of soy sauce, mirin and eel extract as well as garlic and ginger. It also comes with a separate sauce of wasabi mayonnaise and sansho (Japanese pepper) to more closely replicate a real grilled eel dish.

A regular size of 117g will hit shelves on 6th July with a larger 167g size then du3e to be made available a week later. The recommended price for each is set at 180 JPY ($1.47) and 205 JPY ($1.68) respectively.
