Italy: Granarolo opens new plant in Bologna, sets sights on Latin America
The Italian dairy company Granarolo has inaugurated a new production site at its headquarters in Bologna, as part of an investment programme that commenced in 2009.
The total amount of investment in the Bologna site between 2009 and 2014 is in excess of €40 million ($47 million), and the company said it planned to invest a further €2.5 million ($3.0 million) in 2015.
“Bologna is the head and the heart of our group, but this does not prevent us from being present in 13 other regions of Italy […] and in 55 countries worldwide”, commented Gianpiero Calzolari, President of Granarolo, during the facility’s inauguration.
At the same time Granarolo announced the next steps in its international expansions plans. This includes the conclusion of a deal with Caseificio Gennari to export the company’s products abroad and the creation of Granarolo Chile, controlled by Granarolo International, to approach the Latin American market.
“Latin America is an interesting and growing market, with consumption habits not so different from Italian ones. We are also exploring other countries in that area", Mr Calzolari added.
