Ireland: Hibernia Distillers launches Hyde Irish Whiskey

Hibernia Distillers Limited, a company based in Cork, Ireland, has launched a new 10-year-old single malt whiskey under the Hyde brand, according to a report in European Supermarket Magazine.

Hyde 10 Year Old Irish Whiskey is described as being aged in flame-charred oak Bourbon barrels, finished in fine Oloroso Sherry casks, and cut with West Cork spring water.

The product is intended for both domestic and international markets, particularly the USA where spirits market share is said to be expanding.

Company director Alan Hyde commented: “American consumers have led the way in the global trend towards smaller, independent breweries and distilleries. Globally, consumers are increasingly turning towards premium, niche products that offer something different. Hyde brings to the American market a taste of a very special, rare Irish whiskey that is made on a small scale, with local Irish ingredients and pure West Cork spring water”.
