India: CP Foods enters packaged food business

Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Ltd (CP Foods), a leading agro-industrial and food conglomerate in Asia Pacific with a presence in over 40 countries, has announced the company’s entry into the packaged foods business in India.

The new products are said to be nutritious, tasty, safe, traceable and of high quality, having been developed by in-house chefs, with a vision of the “Kitchen of the World and India”.  The product line includes frozen and chilled chicken, vegetable and non-vegetable snacks, eggs and other products.

In India, CP Foods is said to operate with a ‘farm-to fork’ concept with operations ranging from feed production and farming operations to food processing and distribution.

Commenting on the move, Sanjeev Pant, senior VP for CP Foods India, said: "India is a key market for CP Foods globally and the launch of CP packaged foods is an extension to our commitment to deliver high quality chicken and value-added products straight from farm-to-fork. The packaged food industry is estimated to grow up to $50 billion by 2017 and we aim to play a significant role in it”.
