India: Amul to establish 10 milk processing plants

Indian dairy giant Amul is planning to invest Rs 5,000 crore ($810 million) over the coming year to set up 10 milk processing plants, according to a report in the Economic Times.

The new facilities are designed to boost Amul’s revenue to in excess of Rs 50,000 crore ($8.1 billion) per annum.

Speaking at the Indian Food Forum 2015, R S Sodhi, Amul Managing Director, said: "We will invest Rs 5,000 crore to set up around 10 milk processing plants in the next financial year, including two plants in Delhi, three in Uttar Pradesh, one each in Kolkata and Maharashtra and the rest in Gujarat to achieve our revenue target of Rs 50,000 crore by 2020".

He added that the company was on track to achieve annual revenues of Rs 20,000 crore ($3.24 billion) this year.
