Germany: Viba Sweets to acquire Heilemann Confiserie
Viba Sweets, a German manufacturer of nougat products, is to acquire Bavarian confectionery firm Heilemann Confiserie, according to an article in the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk.
Heilemann Confiserie is a traditional manufacturer of boxed chocolates, filled and unfilled chocolate bars and 'sticks' and other chocolate gifts, and is based in the town of Woringen in southern Germany.
Viba Sweets is the leader in the manufacture and sale of nougat bars in Germany, with a reported market share of 60%. Founded in 1893 and headquartered in Schmakalden, Thuringen, the firm also produces marzipan, dragees, fruit snacks, pralines and chocolate spread alongside a line of nougat products.
According to the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk, the newly combined firm will have an annual turnover of roughly €50 million ($55 million) and will employ around 450 staff.
