Germany: Rotkappchen acquires Sprizzero De Martin

Rotkappchen, the German sparkling wine specialist, is acquiring Italian aperitif brand Sprizzero De Martin, according to a report in the Thuringer Allgemeine.

Sprizzero De Martin aperitifs are described as being made from "Italian wines, selected aromatic herbs, and natural – as well as secret – ingredients from the Dolomites Alps". The Sprizzero De Martin range comes in an original version as well as varieties flavoured with pink grapefruit, elderflower and violets.

The acquisition of Sprizzero De Martin follows Rotkappchen's recent move into the rum category with the purchase of the Asmussen Rum, Balle Rum and Boddel Rum brands.

Commenting on the move, Rotkappchen CEO Christof Queisser said: "With the acquisition of the Italian brand Sprizzerò De Martin we are expanding our brand portfolio in Germany and in international markets".

Sprizzero De Martin's Paolo de Martin added: "In Rotkäppchen-Mumm Sektkellereien we have found a strong buyer. We are looking forward to seeing how this brand, our long-time passion, will develop".
