Germany: Popp to acquire majority stake in Kappa Antipasti

Popp Food Group, the German manufacturer of savoury spreads and salads, is set to acquire a majority stake in the Mediterranean foods specialist Kappa Antipasti, according to a report in Lebensmittel Praxis.

Based in Butzbach, Hessen, Kappa is one of the largest German producers of antipasti products including stuffed aubergines, peppers and olives, as well as feta cheese, creams and spreads. The firm has been in existence for more than 20 years and has production facilities in Huttenberg and Giessen. The company also produces lactose-free products under the Minus L brand.

Lebensmittel Praxis reports that the move is designed to enable Kappa to achieve its growth objectives in the Mediterranean foods space, in addition to providing an avenue to explore new opportunities in international markets.
