Germany: Melitta launches cold-brew coffee filters

German coffee and coffee accessories firm Melitta is launching a new variety of coffee filters specially developed to brew cold coffee-based drinks.

Designed with the summer months in mind and promoted as “more than just cold coffee”, Melitta Cold Brew Filter Papers offer “easy-to-prepare cold brew as the basis for refreshing summer blended drinks”.

According to Melitta, recommended preparation sees 100g of freshly ground coffee mixed with 500ml water before being left to rest for an hour, so that a “unique fruity aroma” develops. Next, the consumer stirs again vigorously and allow the mixture to pass slowly through a Melitta Cold Brew Filter Paper. Once chilled and sealed, the concentrate can be mixed with tonic, mineral water, juices or alcoholic beverages and is claimed to last for up to a week in the fridge.

Melitta Cold Brew Filter Papers come in boxes of 40 that also include a recipe book.
