Germany: Hochwald Foods to close facility in Bavaria
Hochwald Foods, a subsidiary of German dairy firm Hochwald Milch, is to shutter its only facility in Bavaria on 31st March 2018, according to a report in the Suddeutsche Zeitung.
The facility in Polling (Muhldorf) employs around 230 staff and is primarily involved in the manufacture of condensed milk.
According to Suddeutsche Zeitung, production will be transferred in part to the firm’s other manufacturing sites. The Thalfang-based dairy producer operates plants in Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Lower Saxony in Germany, as well as in Bolsward in the Netherlands.
Within its retail-focused business, Hochwald Foods offers fresh, longlife and condensed milk under its Baren Marke brand, yoghurt treats from northern Germany under the Lunebest brand, as well as spray cream and condensed milk under the traditional Glucksklee brand.
